Michalis Christodoulides

Born in , he studied composition at the "Conservatoire National de Musique" in Paris. He lived and worked in France until 1979 writing the music for at least twenty theatrical productions mainly for the national theaters of France (Comedie Francaise, Theatre National of Strasbourg and Lyon, the City of Paris and the Festival of Avignon). He has also written music for two Ionesco's world premieres, for the Ballets Modernes of Paris and various artistic events in French festivals. He has honoured by the French government with the prestigious Chevalier des Arts et Lettres for his contribution to French culture.

Since his return to Greece, where he now lives and works, he has written music for more that thirty theatrical productions staged at the Epidavros Festival and the Athens Festival. He wrote music for almost all classical Greek tragedies. In addition to theatre he has also composed music for an opera, the Two Faces of Medea, staged at the Boston Opera, the ballet Amares for the National Ballet of Cuba with Alicia Alonso as Prima Ballarina, the ballet Ulysses for the Austin Ballet, the ballet Mythiamvi for the Athens Opera House and he wrote the music for eight feature films.

He is holder of first price for music in the Thesaloniki Film Festival, two state prices from the Greek Ministry of Culture and a Prix de la Fondation de France for his music in cinema at the Aix en Provence Festival of Music and Cinema. His work has been performed in France, Greece, Russia, Israel, Spain, Italy and the Usa. He has eight recordings, three of which are dedicated to .
